Teltronic, part of the Sepura Group, has announced the compliance of its entire portfolio of onboard products with new European standard EN 45545.
The standard, published by CENELEC, the European Committee for Electrotechnical Standardisation, regulates fire safety in railway rolling stock and will be adopted by all EU countries by April 2016.
The introduction of EN 45545 – which is the fruit of 20 years’ intense discussion between industry operators and test laboratories – will supplant the various pre-existing national fire safety criteria, guaranteeing the same level of safety for railway passengers throughout Europe.
The Teltronic portfolio, designed specifically for the transportation environment, is compliant with both part 1 (EN 45545-1) – the ‘principal terms and definitions and general regulations governing the classification of rail vehicles in operational and design categories, as well as fire safety objectives’ – and part 2 (EN 45545-2), which describes the requirements for the fire behaviour of materials and components.
The conformity of Teltronic’s portfolio with EN 45545 reflects the company’s ongoing investment in product development and manufacturing excellence, and provides customers with complete assurance that their mission critical communication solutions are fully compliant with the very latest European rail standards.
Part of the Sepura Group, Teltronic presents a broad portfolio of critical communication solutions for the transportation, public safety, utilities, and industrial sectors based on TETRA, P25, and LTE technologies.
