Bahia: Managed Operation and Maintenance Service
The Government of the State of Bahia consolidated one of Brazil’s largest critical radiocommunication networks with the expansion of the Integrated Communication System for its security forces. The project significantly expanded the existing digital TETRA network, benefiting more than 14 million people across the state.
With a territorial area of 564,760 km2, Bahia presented complex connectivity challenges due to its vast geography, requiring a robust and scalable solution to ensure secure and efficient communications between all public safety agencies.
The infrastructure integrates the 18 Integrated Communication Centres, CICOMS, distributed throughout the state’s interior, with the Operations and Intelligence Centre, COI, located in Salvador, establishing digital coverage across all 417 municipalities in Bahia.
The project required a solution capable of meeting complex operational demands on a state-wide scale. The initiative addressed a long-standing need: bringing to the entire interior of the state the same technology already available in the capital and its metropolitan region, ensuring effective coordination between agencies linked to public safety. It also sought to implement the Teltronic Integration Platform for the reception, processing, dispatch and management of all emergency calls to the 190, 193 and 197 numbers originating from the state’s interior.
The four-year deadline established by STELECOM for deployment and operational launch represented an additional challenge. It required early manufacturing, international equipment logistics and precise coordination for installation across 19 communication centres distributed throughout the state.
