eNEBULA TETRA Infrastructure

Evolved NEBULA, or eNEBULA is the commercial name of TELTRONIC mission-critical infrastructure, offering both TETRA and LTE radio access, in the same system deployment or separately, according to our customer needs, ensuring a seamless operation and management.

eNEBULA infrastructure for TETRA mobile radio networks delivers excellent coverage, security and reliability in a platform designed for efficient implementation and cost-effective scalability.

Throughout the system our engineering exceeds standard requirements where it matters most.

eNEBULA is the only TETRA system that is fully 100% Ethernet / IP based. A secure and reliable network can be built with distributed switching, distributed intelligence, and complete fault-tolerant redundancy, as well as at lower network costs due to the use of commercial off-the-shelf equipment.

SCN – TETRA Control Node

NMS (Network Management System)

Switching Control Node, or SCN, is the responsible to provide network intelligence, embedding the user provisioning and configuration, as well as the access to standard PMR services.

TETRA Radio Access

TELTRONIC portfolio to provide TETRA radio access comprises a complete family of base stations, available in different formats, from those fixed to portable ones. The customer will appreciate the wide variety of features offered, as well as the diverse operation conditions these units can cope with, delivering the best performance in every operational scenario, whether indoor or outdoor. IP66 quickly deployable base stations, an outstanding 75 watts of RF output power and triple receiver diversity for fixed units are good examples to understand the benefits of our eNEBULA portfolio of TETRA base stations.

Maximizing the radio coverage is not the only point Teltronic engineers focus on when designing eNEBULA TETRA base stations. Availability and reliability are also kept in mind as a paramount premise to reassure that the system will be OK in spite of any unexpected circumstances. This is why the base stations count upon fallback mode controllers, redundant elements and cutting-edge components, achieving the highest availability and lending the best service possible.

SBS – Site Base Station

SBS - Site Base Station

Within the family of TETRA base stations, the SBS comes up as a fixed unit to be installed either indoor or outdoor.

Delivering up to 75 watts of RF output power, the maximum stated in the TETRA standard, this base station allows setting up larger coverage cells of unmatched area, offering all the new generation TETRA functionalities and beyond.

Among others, it is worth pointing out how its triple diversity will enable the customer to enlarge the coverage area, reducing the number of base stations needed to cover a certain region. In addition, redundant components and connectivity with the backhaul network as well as fallback mode controllers guarantee the highest availability.

Flexibility is another issue closely related to eNEBULA SBS. Whatever the technology the backhaul network is based on, all the system SBS’s can be connected among them and with the System Control Node (SCN) on the basis of a wide range of linking topologies. This is possible thanks to its 100% Ethernet/IP design, both at signaling and voice level, what turns it into a unique base station model in the TETRA market

MBS – Mast-mounted Base Station

MBS - Mast-Mounted Base Station

Teltronic’s Mast-mounted Base Station (MBS) has been prepared to be easily installed on walls or towers with minimum cost.

Its excellent design does not require an additional unit at the bottom of the tower. These advantages reduce considerably the installation costs, making the MBS a very cost-effective system.

Teltronic’s MBS is a complete 1-carrier TETRA base station. Its main goal is to improve coverage in shadow zones, where an indoor base station is not necessary or recommended. Its modular design allows it to be easily upgraded to two TETRA carriers with an additional unit. Furthermore, as the MBS is designed for outdoor operation, the system is able to work under the harshest climatic conditions.

The system includes a complete set of software tools to maintain the unit, even remotely. Intuitive and easy-to-use applications allow the modification of user profiles, system configuration or the checking of network status from a friendly Graphic User Interface.

Designed for integration with the Teltronic NEBULA system, the MBS provides an unrivalled set of TETRA services, unique when compared to any other similar unit. Deploy a fully professional TETRA network with ease and allow users to work with all the advantages that TETRA technology offers

DBS – Deployable Base Station

DBS - Deployable Base Station

The Deployable Base Station DBS is a TETRA base station of reduced dimensions and transportable, that can be easily deployed and installed anywhere the coverage must be strengthened or network traffic capacity needs to be higher.

Besides, the DBS may be helpful when facing natural disasters, making it possible to replace the collapsed communications infrastructure in a quick manner and providing affected zones out of coverage with new coverage and communication services.

The DBS is ready to operate outdoors under the harshest weather conditions, thus reducing installation cost since no shelter is necessary. Only a mast is needed to install the antenna and the link that allows connecting the DBS to the TETRA Control Node of Evolved NEBULA system, the Switching Control Node (SCN). But also, the DBS may operate in isolated mode with no connection to the SCN, like TELTRONIC’s MBS and PBS base stations. In this case, the DBS creates a two-carrier-system itself capable of switching and managing the radio communication services among the users within its coverage area.

The DBS delivers 2 TETRA carriers, although may be upgraded up to 4 carriers just by adding an additional DBS unit.

PBS – Portable Base Station

PBS - Portable Base Station

The TELTRONIC’s Mast Base Station may be easily converted into the Portable Base Station (PBS) by using an accessory to facilitate transportation.

This accessory consists of a two-wheeled trolley to bear the weight of the MBS to allow the user to effortlessly move it over all kinds of surfaces.

The PBS may be connected to the Evolved NEBULA TETRA Control Node, or SCN, of the network to act as a quickly deployable base station placed anywhere a new coverage area is needed to be set up. In addition, the PBS may also operate in isolated mode with no connection to the SCN. In this case, the PBS creates a one-carrier-system itself capable of switching and managing the radio communication services among the users within its coverage area.

Thus, the PBS is a highly flexible base station solution that delivers one TETRA carrier for those scenarios in which portability, fast deployment, and adaptability are a must, such as for disaster recovery, new coverage areas, infrastructure solution for remote areas, etc

NMS-Network Management System

NMS - Network Management System

TELTRONIC provides a NETWORK MANAGEMENT SYSTEM (NMS) to manage and operate its network infrastructure, whatever the radio technology provided TETRA and/or LTE.

Built upon a client-server architecture and based on FCAPS (Fault, Configuration, Accounting, Performance and Security) industry standard, it provides maintenance staff and network operators with an intuitive but powerful tool to configure, monitor and check the performance of all network TETRA and / or LTE components, including a unified subscriber management.

It can be configured for different access privileges, allowing separate technical and operational management. In multi-agency environments, the NMS enables agencies/users to share the network yet keeps each agency’s subscriber management isolated. Additionally, for geographically dispersed networks, it is possible to have a specific maintenance workstation for each network segment, while keeping a centralized workstation that supervises and controls all segments.
