Cambridge, 15th July 2015 – The Brazilian state of Sergipe has selected a TETRA solution by the Sepura Group for its public safety organisations. The contract, a significant landmark for the Group, was signed earlier this month by the Public Safety Secretariat of the state of Sergipe further to a competitive tender for a full turnkey solution project comprising extensive user trials and very rigorous testing.
The Sepura Group will be responsible for the installation and commissioning of a complete TETRA solution, including the provision of operational assistance and maintenance to the government of Sergipe for the next two years.The new system comprises a command and control centre, that will employ up to 15 operators, a TETRA network, to include more than 15 base stations, and in excess of 3,000 hand-portable and mobile radios. The complete system will provide digital communications and coverage to the entire state of Sergipe; in particular, it will deliver secure digital communications to every emergency force including all public safety and rescue organisations.

Sergipe is soon to be the first state in Brazil with 100% digital radio coverage throughout its territory”.

Sergipe is the smallest state of the Brazilian Federation located on the north-eastern Atlantic coast of the country. It covers an area of 21,910.4 km2 with a population of 2,228,489. Aracaju is the capital and the largest city in the state.
